As the temperature rises, it is common to notice changes in your skin, increasing breakouts and hair growth. We wanted to reassure you that these changes are completely normal and to share some insights and tips to help you navigate them.
Why do these changes happen?
Breakouts:
Heat and Humidity:
Any increase in temperature and humidity can increase oil production which leads to clogged pores and breakouts.
Sweat:
Sweat can mix with bacteria and oils on your skin, causing irritation and pimples.
Breakouts can be improved by cleansing the skin regularly to remove excess oil and sweat. Staying hydrated will also improve breakouts as water helps to flush out toxins.
Increased Hair Growth:
Humidity & Sunlight:
Warmer temperatures and exposure to sunlight can stimulate hair growth due to increased blood circulation, higher sebum production and enhanced metabolic activity.
Hormonal Changes:
The change in season can influence hormonal balances, impacting hair growth cycles.
Hair growth can be managed by moisturising to maintain a barrier and prevent irritation from increased hair growth.
Having your hair removal treatments such as electrolysis and waxing more frequently is advised in the warmer months to keep on top of your increased hair growth. For example increasing your monthly treatments to every 2-3 weeks.
