A year of skin, science, stories… and a few bunnies, cauldrons, and Greek mums thrown in for good measure.

🕰️ An Early Blog Because… Jury Service!

This blog is arriving a little earlier than usual because I was called in for jury service for two whole weeks starting 15th December. Today is only the 17th, and I’m still sitting here… not called in yet.

Am I bored? Absolutely.Is it a waste of my time and money? Oh yes.Am I trying not to stress about how much money I’m losing while still paying bills? You bet.

But, in true Devine Skin style, I’m trying to stay calm and remind myself that jury service is important for the proper running of things — law, order, all that serious stuff. Meanwhile, I’ve decided the best way to survive is to write this blog while sipping tea, occasionally staring out the window, and pretending this is exactly where I want to be.

As we wrap up another incredible year at Devine Skin, I want to take a moment to reflect on everything we’ve achieved together — the skin transformations, the confidence boosts, the laughter, the learning, and yes… the seasonal decorations that I may or may not have gone slightly overboard with. (I maintain the spring bunnies were tasteful. Ish.)

This year has been one of growth, education, and truly heartfelt moments in the clinic. Every client who walks through the door brings a story, and I never take that for granted. Thank you for trusting me with your skin, your concerns, your glow-ups, and sometimes even your life updates while we cleanse, peel, zap, calm, and SPF you into the skin health you deserve.

🌟 Highlights of the Year

✨ Confidence Transformations

One of the most beautiful parts of my job is seeing how great skin impacts your life beyond the mirror. Today I had one of the best compliments I’ve ever received:

“You’ve given me the confidence to get up on stage at a work conference and do a speech. I would never have done that before because of my flushing and redness. Now it’s so reduced, I felt confident enough to stand there and speak.”

Cue me trying not to cry while pretending to look very professional with my IPL goggles in hand.

Those little moments — the weddings, the interviews, the reunions, the dates, the presentations — they matter. And I’m honoured to be part of your journey toward feeling truly at home in your skin.

💛 A Year of Education, Awareness… and Reassurance

This year, more than ever, clients opened up about how their skin affects their confidence. One sentence I heard again and again — always said with a guilty little smile — was:

“I don’t mean to sound vain… but I just really need this improved!”

Let me say this clearly:It is NOT vain to want good skin.

It’s not shallow, it’s not indulgent, and it’s absolutely nothing to apologise for.My motto has always been:

✨ Everyone deserves the right to feel confident in their own skin. ✨

And that confidence looks different for everyone — whether it’s calming rosacea, evening texture, easing eczema, softening lines, or simply finding skincare that doesn’t upset your skin barrier.

Watching clients shift from “sorry, I sound vain” to “I feel amazing” has been one of the biggest joys of my year.

🧪 Treatments We’ve Loved This Year

From chemical peels to IPL, microneedling to skincare therapy sessions, this year has been all about science meeting self-care.

We introduced new protocols, enhanced existing ones, and continued championing medical-grade skincare — because yes, a pea-sized amount really is enough, and no, you do not need to moisturise your entire neighbourhood.

A special shoutout goes to SQT Bio Microneedling — often regarded as the most painful treatment in the clinic. Clients sometimes look at me as if I’ve betrayed them, whispering, “Are you sure this is necessary?” I may appear slightly cruel (okay, maybe more than slightly), but the results are nothing short of life-changing: glowing, rejuvenated skin that leaves clients grinning like they’ve just won the lottery. Every wince, squeak, and dramatic gasp is totally worth it!

And you embraced it brilliantly.

😂 Funniest & Most Memorable Moments of the Year

🐣 Spring Bunnies Take Over

The spring display had its moment — many clients told me they “came for the skin check, stayed for the bunnies.”Some even suggested I join a seasonal decoration addiction support group.I ignored them, obviously.

☀️ The Greek Mum SPF Saga & Social Media Trends

My blog about UVA, UVB, and my Greek mum encouraging me to “weather myself” in the sun for 10 minutes had everyone laughing.

Important reminder:Vitamin D = good.Early morning sun = lovely.Olive oil = still not SPF……but it is fabulous for your hair and nails.

On a more serious note, this year we also saw some questionable Instagram trends — yes, those “hacks” that go viral but are anything but helpful. One client came in with sore, sensitive skin after trying a trend that promised instant glow. It was a stark reminder that not all online advice is safe, and why professional guidance is so important. We managed to repair her skin barrier, restore comfort, and get her glowing again — safely!

🎃 Autumn Cauldrons and Potion Bottles

I may have peaked with the AlumierMD cauldron display.Halloween at Devine Skin basically turned into Hogwarts — minus the spells, plus the SPF.

🔥 The Clients Who Make My Day

Some firm favourites from the year:

• “You’re basically my skin therapist and my therapist.”

• “I only came in for a facial but left with life advice and a plan to reorganise my bathroom shelf.”

• “You should warn people that peels make you addicted to looking glowy.”

• “The only place I relax more than here is after two gin and tonics.”

• “Come for the results, stay for the gossip.” (Still no comment!)

And of course… the clients who truly understand me on a spiritual level:

• The lovely soul who brings me a hot tea and a cinnamon bun — you are elite.

• The ones who arrive with Jelly Tots, knowing full well they are my absolute favourite (I pretend they’re for “energy” but we all know the truth).

• And those who spoil me with the kindest Christmas gifts every single year.

Every treat, every gesture, every thought is so greatly received and genuinely appreciated. You have no idea how much it means.

💛 The Heart of Devine Skin

This year wasn’t just about treatments — it was about connection.We educated, problem-solved, repaired barriers, calmed flare-ups, soothed anxieties, celebrated wins, and occasionally laughed until we cried.

For me, Devine Skin isn’t just a clinic.It’s a safe space.A little sanctuary.A place where you can be honest, vulnerable, curious, hopeful — and always welcomed.

Next year brings new treatments, new education, new displays (I’ve told myself to calm down… but let’s be honest, I probably won’t), and even more dedication to helping you feel confident and happy in your skin.
