Strange and odd week again, as all the weeks have been in lockdown. I seemed to have been really busy, (no time for a walk or bike ride again) but don’t appear to have achieved anything. Am I not using my time wisely?
Anyway, I have been getting ready to open, trying out all the PPE Equipment, seeing if its comfortable. Also thought it was time I started to wear a bra again as I’ll be coming back to work soon. Well, I remember bra’s being a little annoying after a day’s wear but not after an hour. 😂😂😂😂. So now trying to build up an extra hour every day so by time I am back at work, I should be able to wear it all day without it becoming uncomfortable. And yes before you say it, I have had to go up a size or two due to the COVID stone (or two). I didn’t even try to squeeze into my old ones after the uniform fiasco!😂
I feel this week my mood has improved mainly because I think I am past caring. 🤷🏼♀️ This is definitely showing on my social media. I can’t believe I am sharing post of me with no makeup, overgrown bedhead hair with dark roots and my extra COVID stone 🤷🏼♀️😂 ( who knew hair weighed so much ) .
I think it’s fair to say my sense of humour is back and I may be a little bit crazier than I was before!! 😂🤪 I am finding humour in everything and have been laughing and giggling a lot this week. Is it just me who has lost the plot?? (I know, some of you are thinking did I ever have a plot…) 😅😃
You would be proud of me… I also put my big girl pants on and made my first social media video. Go and take a look and like at https://Instagram.com/devinebskin or https://Facebook.com/DevineBeautyRooms . I wasn’t brave enough to do a live video but it’s a start. Feedback was fantastic, so thank you to all of you who liked, commented and order products from the video. Just shows social media does work if you take the time to learn how to do it. I am still learning but getting there.
Remember last week I told you I do a little happy dance every time I get an order 💃🏼👯♀️ Well... I am now starting to do and little dance and pumping the air every time I get a like or comment on social media. 💪 So keep on liking...🤣🤪😘 I will do a deal with you all. If my next few posts get more than 20 likes, I will put a video post up of me doing my happy dance👏🏼 I may even do it live. 🤪🤣 So as Paddy McGuiness would say “no likey no dancey “.
I have started to engage with other therapists in the industry through our WhatsApp and Facebook groups . I now realise having these groups is a blessing and not a burden (as I thought when I was feeling low) for two reasons. Firstly, these groups have a wealth of experience and are very useful for exchanging hints and tips for products and treatments. Secondly, being a solo worker, it can be very hard knowing if the decisions I am making would work. In all, being part of these groups makes me feel like I am part of a team which I have needed during this lockdown period.
Now I am a little more active on social media and getting a lot more feedback, I am starting to enjoy it instead of dreading it. So thanks to all of you who have been supporting me by liking and commenting on my post and blogs. Also thank you to you guys who have made me face masks and those of you still paying for your monthly treatments and buying products. Small business like mine need this to keep us going emotionally and financially. This little gesture from you, is huge for us ... It will make the difference and help keep our business going through this tough time. So Thank you 😘👏🏼
I am hoping to get into the salon sometime this week (subject to leisure centre manager) to start decluttering and getting it cleaned and ready for when we can re-open. I cannot wait. Saying that, it’s going to be hot and sunny this week, so I may need to make the most of the sunshine and just chill in the garden… Sorry to those of you still working.
So that’s about it for this week. In the words of the late great Vera Lynn, “We’ll meet again, I know where but I don’t know when but I know we’ll meet again someday soon”…
Stay safe, stay well and most of all stay in touch…
