Updated: Mar 30, 2020

Having a skin routine for the next few weeks - while not the most important aspect of the current pandemic - is something we all could all do with, if not only for self care and me time..

Here's some tips to looking after your skin in lockdown...

1. YOUR SKIN NEEDS A DRINK...

Hydration is the key. Your skin loses it moisture from numerous factors including dry indoor air. Keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water, this is the best way to hydrate the skin from the inside.

2. EXFOLIATE...

The usual cell rejuvenation cycle is 28 days but when your skin is dry from the winter weather and indoor air it takes a longer time to transition the dead skin cells to the surface. A gentle exfoliation treatment tailored for your skin type is the key to get rid of dry, unhealthy appearance and reveal a bright new you.

3. STEP UP YOUR SERUM GAME...

Serums are seriously a good thing. Especially when it comes to handling sensitive dry skin. Serums are really the key in addressing and repairing most skin conditions as they penetrate deeper into the skin.

4. MOISTURISE THE SKIN...

Even indoors you skin needs to be kept moisturised and hydrated, specially at night when you skin is repairing itself while we sleep.

5. PRACTICE SAFE SUN SCREEN...

Blocking the skin from the harmful UVA & UVB ray is best the skincare you can have. Even in the winter months through clouds, through glass the suns powerful rays can damage our skin. so a broad spectrum sunscreen everyday over our moisturiser is imperative.

As an added extra for your skin and well being...

Use a masks once a week and leave on the skin for at least 20 mins. While the mask is on use a eyemask so you completely relax and let the mask works its magic.

Not forgetting you poor dry sore hands...

With all this extra hand washing, our hands are really taking the strain. After hand washing, pat dry your hands with a clean towel, ensure they are fully dry but don-not rub them as this can break the surface and cause more irritation. Use a non fragrance nourishing hand cream as often as you can, specially at night so you your skin can repair itself.
